Judge the listing before you pay

You already have the link. This desk covers the step after that: which photographs to ask for, what each part of them has to show, and the point at which the answer stops being a question and becomes a return.

Where are you right now?

Four states, four routes. Each one opens the three pages that answer it, in the order that stops a loss earliest rather than the order that reads most comfortably.

What this desk judges, and what it does not

A shared list of links solves discovery. It does not help with the part that follows: a seller sends a set of photographs and you have to decide whether what they show is acceptable. That decision is what this desk publishes criteria for.

51 judging points are recorded across eight categories. Each one names the part being observed, the photographs a decision requires, three thresholds written as counts and distances rather than impressions, and the condition that should end the assessment outright. Where a step needs a specific angle and the seller sent a wide shot, the point is discarded instead of guessed at — which is why the scorecard sometimes returns no verdict at all.

What is not published here matters as much. There is no product catalogue, no product photography, no price for goods, no stock state and no order route. This desk does not sell, does not place orders and does not issue authenticity opinions. The diagrams on these pages are drawn for this site rather than taken from listings. The reasoning behind those refusals is set out in full on the about page.

Every page carries the date it was last checked and the window for its next review. When a page passes its window without a re-check, it says so on the page rather than implying a freshness it cannot support. Parameters that depend on rules which change — duty bands, freight, carrier terms — expire fastest, and a gauge whose parameters have expired shows the figures as placeholders instead of issuing a verdict.

The criteria themselves come from platform rules, carrier policies and public community threads, each recorded with a source type and an observation count. Where nothing was counted, the page says no sample rather than carrying an estimate. The method page describes the evidence levels, the reading order and the review windows in full.

Eight categories, judged part by part

A category page lists every judging point recorded for it, in reading order, with the date each one was last checked.

Gauges that show their inputs

9 working calculators and one data matrix. Every one of them states where its parameters came from and when they were last read.

Recently checked

The six most recent checks across judging points, questions and dispatches. Updates here are driven by events — a rule change, a carrier policy change, an accepted correction — rather than by a publishing schedule.
